Service was excellent and the staff were very helpful with a problem we were having with our car.
We were promised a quiet room, but we were in a queen room at the back overlooking an inner courtyard, which had loud air con running all night, plus the sound of the train station. We therefore got very little sleep. If we had known the location more thoroughly in advance we would have asked for a room at the other side of the hotel .

The staff people were all extremely helpful and friendly. The room had everything I needed and was very comfortable. The price was within my budget. I always had a parking spot. I could pick up some fruit and a muffin in the morning on my way to my meetings. The best feature of the hotel is its location downtown.
Everything that I didn't like was not the fault of the hotel. The street construction, the unreliable wireless internet service (kept going on and off), nothing on tv! And the mattress was too firm for my sore hips. I would ask for a softer bed or bring a 1-2" foam if I stay there again. I have osteoarthritis in my hips.

Service from staff
The building is in rough shape. Carpet in elevator is badly worn. The bathroom in the unit I stayed in had leaking fawcetts, plumbing fixtures need to be replaced and apoor to non existant caulking job. The mattress was old and offered the minimum of cushioning. Window blinds were tattered. Hallways were extremely hot. With no choice it would be an adequate place to stay for one night. Pictures do not do this place justice. Will not return.

We love coming and staying at the Guelph Royal Inn and have stayed here about 6 times before. The location is perfect, close to our relatives and we enjoy the downtown area. The manager has always been very good to us, and we enjoy seeing him every year. The price fits in with our budget, we enjoy the lovely breakfast too. We would recommend it to any friends that would be coming up to visit. Alice and Brian Milne

The location of the hotel is excellent for touring, shopping and eating out in good restaurants. The staff are helpful and courteous. The building is old - Sir John A. MacDonald was a visitor there - so be prepared for that. The upkeep could be better, and the rooms, while perfectly adequate for our needs, were a bit grubby through longtime use. It needs to be refurbished, but at the same time, it is comfortable and located near both bus and train terminal. All in all a good place to stay for budget-minded travellers.

The staff that we met were very friendly and helpful. The room was large. The location is wonderful for visiting downtown Guelph. When we arrived they upgrades out bedroom to a Kingsize bed, instead of a queen.
The hotel smelled old, like smoke or the inside of an old pub. The decor is old fashioned and is in a great need of updating. Tv was a bit small for the distance away the bed and the room was sparse. A few more amenities would be nice, such as a shower cap, & conditioner.
